Asheville Food & Juice

Healthy Food and Fresh Juice

A quick look on HappyCow revealed five vegan restaurants in the Asheville area and one down in Arden. A search of Yelp revealed three additional (non-overlapping) juice bars. And that doesn’t include the Whole Foods.

It’s not Encinitas, the juicery Mecca, but for a Southern town, Asheville’s an easy place to get your vegan on.

The primary dining area is downtown, where most restaurants are geared towards business people and tourists. Those restaurants tend to offer a broader variety of food, with many including vegetarian options. There are also a couple vegan/vegetarian spots including Rosetta’s Kitchen and the Block off Biltmore, one of the few vegan music venues in the country — but they do have beer. Beer is as much a requirement in Asheville as it is in Portland.

Head across the freeway up Merrimon and you’ll find Elements Real Food and Plant, two appropriately named vegan establishments.
