Struggling, but Transparent
We don’t have to tell you that creating a web-site, writing articles, updating graphics and working on social media to promote is time-comsuming, often painful and frustrating, and not very lucrative, particularly at the start. As of now, we don’t make even enough to cover the costs of our hosting. We can only imagine what it would be like to be paid for some of the labor. So we’ve signed up for some services that hopefully will help.
Affiliates:
If you start your shopping from this link, we get a commission for just about anything you buy in the following 24 hours. As far as we have experienced, it does not change the shopping experience or your account in any way. We just get a little thank you. If you’d like to help us out, start with the link below. It will take you to Amazon and you can go from there.
At this point, we haven’t recommended any specific products. When we do, it will be something specific that we have used and like. For instance, we use REI backpacks as our PC bags. They’re worn out, losing the stretch in the side pockets, but they’ve traveled the world with us, and to the local coffee shop. And we like our flannel shirts, but we’re picky. If you see a Patagonia link or one for Ascend, we have both and like them very much. Abercrombie and Fitch not so much. They’re too skinny and too thin. (Personally, my first Abercrombie flannel, years ago when Abercrombie was still an outfitter, was awesome. It got lost, and I still miss it. Sadly, the outfitter days are gone.)
Also, we’re Apple users and fans of their products so adding them was a no-brainer. There are only a few links to Apple embedded in the web-site and we don’t know just how the program works. It would be cool if we got a percentage of computers sold after a click, but we’re pretty sure that’s not how it works.
As you can tell, we’re just getting into the realm of recouping some of our investment. We’ve got a long way to go and a lot to learn.
Ads:
Yes, we use those too, but those are obvious. We don’t like them. We try to keep them low key. If we can find a way to purify the site and remove the ads, we would. We’re not there yet.
